President Buhari Campaign Office to Open January 20 - Presidency
Alhaji Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications has confirmed that plans have been concluded to open a campaign office for President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by January 20, 2018, ahead of the 2019 elections.

Although President Buhari is yet to announce or declare publicly whether he would run or not however, the Minister of Communications said his 'ardent supporters' will go ahead with the campaign hoping to convince him to seek re-election.

Alhaji Shittu disclosed this on Wednesday, January 3, in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The minister was noted to have said,
It goes without saying; if you have a child who goes to a primary school and he does well; he proceeds to a secondary school and he does well, and you keep asking if he will be going to university. It goes without saying.

By the grace of God, we, his (Buhari’s) ardent supporters who appreciate his worth on behalf of millions of Nigerians, would urge him to re-contest.

I know he has not made up his mind but I can say some of us can assist him in making up his mind so that Nigeria can continue to enjoy stability and progress in our land.

He also disclosed that the campaign office expected to be inaugurated this month would be the South West Zonal Office.

When asked if the campaign for for 2019 Presidential election has begun, Alhaji Shittu said:
Every day, since he (Buhari) came into office, all his activities are geared towards letting Nigerians know that they have a saviour, a rescuer, somebody who is committed to providing relief for Nigerians in all respects, in the area of fighting corruption, insurgency whether in the North-East or the Niger Delta; in the area of repairing the economy and providing jobs and providing social stability in the society.

Also, various groups in the north have been debating that Buhari considers a second term but the Presidency has continued to disassociate from the unofficial 'Buhari for second term' campaigns.
