Bureau Chief, Benin – Concerned Parents of Our Lady of Mercy, (OLM) Nursery/Primary School, Benin, on Monday, protested what they described as “outrageous levies” allegedly imposed on them by the school management.

They also called for the removal of the Headmistress, Rev. Sister Helen Ilekhuojie for alleged highhandedness.

The protesters, who wore dresses with placards of various inscriptions like “Our Lady of Mercy, not a business empire, no PTA levy, Helen must go, Rev. Omede is presiding over a board that he is not in control of, the board must be dissolved and reconstituted”

Spokesperson for the aggrieved group and chairman, Parent Teacher Association, OLM, Mr. Adorolo Michael Osikhena who addressed newsmen in Benin City, said the inclusion of electricity bill, and the payment of the sum of N700 for the purchase of diesel to run the school is not the duty of the parents but that of the management of the school.
