FG to establish First ICT University in Nigeria
The Federal government says it plans to set up an Information Communication Technology University in Nigeria. The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, today introduced an implementation committee that would work towards building up the institution. 

As indicated by Adebayo, the ICT college is being built up so Nigerians can keep pace with the quickly changing innovative progression in the worldwide Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, upgrade of the ICT learning condition, stimulation of critical thinking, drive innovation, bridge the digital divide, increment commitment to the GDP using ICT. 

Adebayo in his inaugural address, said that ICT assumes a basic part in the reasonable development and improvement of any country, referring to the Nigerian case which he said remains "at the rate of 24.42% development, the ICT area is at present the quickest developing in the Nigerian economy" 

He went ahead to express that the proposed Institution would offer an assortment of programs aimed at providing professional knowledge and mastery required for a particular vocation in the field of Telecommunications, Internet of things, Cyber Security, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Computer Forensics, Digital Media and Entertainment Technology. 

As indicated by him, "The proposed Institution has been supported by the Nigerian government, worldwide pioneers in the ICT business, for example, Cisco, Facebook, Huawei, D – joins, Lenovo, Samsung, Apple, Siemens, Intel, Motorola, Ericsson, Dell, HP, IBM, MTN and the Globacom".
